Jayne Pupek, the author of the emotional but satisfying Tomato Girl (see my review here) has offered to send an autographed copy to one of my lucky readers. You definitely want to participate in this one. Tomato Girl was a great read with one of the most lovable characters ever; that is, I just wanted to pull her into my arms and promise to love her forever. To enter this contest just leave a comment telling me about the most memorable character you've come across in a book this year. Don't forget to tell us all the name of the book. :) I'll pick a winner sometime next Wednesday, Oct. 29th. Be sure I can contact you when you win.

Yay- a love contests!
The most memorable character I've come across this year was Esme Lennox (The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox). I've forced every woman in my family and friend group to read this book. Truly excellent!
my review at Foreign Circus Library
So far, the most memorable character I have come is across is Duncan Wagner in A Jolly Good Fellow by Stephen V. Masse-a guy down on his luck trying to improve his life. I would love to read Tomato Girl!!!
I read Markus Zusak's The Book Thief a few weeks ago -- and I think that almost every character has great sticking power! Mostly Liesel, the protagonist, but also Rudy (her best friend), Hans and Rosa (her adoptive parents), Max (a Jew they hide in the basement)... even some minor characters, like the mayor's wife. It's so good.
I think the most memorable character i have read this year is Luzia from The Seamstress. This is such a fabulous book set in Brazil about 2 sisters who learn to be seamstresses from their aunt. Luzia goes from that to being at the head of an outlaw band of Cangaceiros in the wild north of Brazil. Just a great story.
Enter me in your contest please.
I'm haunted by Sarah Carrier from Kathleen Kent's THE HERETIC'S DAUGHTER. The striking visual of the bookcover is perfect for this character.
Thanks for the chance to win TOMATO GIRL. I'm really eager to read it.

So far I'd say Juana la Loca in The Last Queen by C.W. Gortner. With everything she's gone through, I just wanted to be able to bring her into my home, with her kids, and just bring them some peace and safety. And as much hot chocolate as they'd want, yup.
My favorite character so far this year is Tambu from Nervous Conditions by Tsitisi Dangarembga. I too wanted to just scoop her up off the page and hug her. There is a sequel to the first novel, titled The Book of Not.
Thanks for another fun contest!

I'm really interested in this book! I'd love to be in your drawing!
"Narrator" in the The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson; I don't know how I'm so emotionally vested in a character whose name I never knew but wow I am.

Wow the most memorable character is so hard to choose. They all have things you love about them. Great contest by the way.

For this year's books I would have to pick Vida Winter from The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, although it was a tough choice.

That is a tough question! I think the most memorable character I've read lately is Enzo the dog and narrator from The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. Such a good book and a very cool dog. Thank you for this contest. I've heard very good comments about this book also.

Oh, I want to read this book so much!
But let's see..the most memorable character from a book I read this year? I guess it's hard to pick ONLY one, but one of them would be Chloe from Becoming Chloe by Catherine Ryan Hyde. It's hard to explain if you haven't read the book, but she's just an amazing young girl.

I would have to say that I fell in love with Sarah Carrier also. However, I LOVED the voice of the monster at the end of The Monsters Of Templeton.
Please enter me in this contest through my Tasses email link. I have blogged about this contest on Random Wonder.
This is such a tough question...but "Alice" from Living Dead Girl comes to mind.

The most memorable character I've read about this year would have to be Olivia Bean from Tish Cohen's Inside Out Girl. She has a nonverbal learning disorder and her interaction with the other characters is so incredibly touching!
Thanks!
