But, Enough About Books...

Okay, even I can’t read ALL the time, so I’m guessing that you folks might voluntarily shut the covers from time to time as well… What else do you do with your leisure to pass the time? Walk the dog? Knit? Run marathons? Construct grandfather clocks? Collect eggshells?

Most of my time is spent homeschooling my three kiddos, cooking and cleaning but occasionally I like to spend some of my time with other hobbies. I like to always be creating something. When I've gone too long without making something I start to feel backed up inside. I love crafts of all kinds but my biggest passion is for quilting. I love the patterned fabrics and the patterns I can create with the fabrics. It's like putting a beautiful puzzle together that is soft and cuddly.
My Butterfly Quilt is the last one I completed. It was for a quilting contest 3 years ago. I was supposed to make something that reminded me of home. In the town we were living in there was a large butterfly mural downtown. I created the pattern myself and worked on it nonstop. When I finished it I realised that the contest had ended the day before so I wasn't able to enter it. But I am so glad that I worked on it. I learned a lot about my own abilities and the importance of quality.

It's beautiful Petunia! A few years ago my grandma helped me make a patchwork quilt. I did all of the sewing, but by the time it got the part where I needed to hand tie it, I got bored and let her do more than her share of the work (I was 20-21 at the time). Hubby just bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and I would love to try new things (my quilt is just basic squares using three different patterns...) but I don't know where to start.

I love it. One of my New Years Resolutions was to get back to my crafts-crochet and cross stitch. I didn't get much done last year. I love both hobbies so they're getting more time these days.

How beautiful! I've always wanted to create a quilt but have never been that brave.

Your quilt is beautiful. I like to create things too but I do it all on the computer. Happy BTT.

Your quilt is beautiful. I'm afraid my oculist gave me an ultimatum, I could either give up quilting or reading. There was no contest. But I do really miss it.

This week's BTT has been really fun. I enjoy reading about what everyone else does with the rest of their free time.

One day I hope to take up quilting. For me it's a family thing - women on both sides of my family have done it. I have a trunk full of quilts from my paternal grandmother and great-grannies on both sides.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. It's nice to see so many quilters and quilt admirers.
Some day I'll post more pictures of my other quilts.
