The Sunday Salon

I had an unproductive beginning here for the Sunday Salon. I read for 1 1/2 hours and managed to read 25 pages. Pathetic! But I am not discouraged from my mission to read as much as I can on Sundays. I will be back next week, Lord willing.

It's interesting to see how much time one can spend reading. I've been using a kitchen timer to see exactly what it is: it's interrupted *constantly*, of course, so I can turn it on and off with ease. So I managed slightly over an hour of reading yesterday spread out over the whole day....

My problem was that I was so tired I kept falling asleep after each paragraph. I am a very slow reader but not usually that slow. Better luck next time.

Petunia, I find some times that I simply can't read. It's not the book, just me. On an average I read 2 pages ever 3 mins (I wish I was faster!) but some times I'll be lucky to finish a book in a week.

So don't worry about it. You have all week to either practice or relax. Either way, better luck next week!

Ya do what you can! Some books I can zip right through (although I usually average 40 pages an hour on a great day). But with some, I read about 20 pages an hour (Howards End...)

Amber-thanks for the encouragement. My reading seems to be picking up lately but with the holidays coming up I guess we'll see.

Trish-it was real slow going for me through Anna Karenina. It took me forever to get through it.
