And here's the list:
- The Iliad by Homer-mythology-I started this last week and plan to read The Odyssey as well.
- The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle-fantasy-I happen to be reading this to the kids.
- Stardust by Neil Gaiman-fairytale-per Carl V.'s recommendation
- The Complete Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm-folktale-with 700 pages, we'll see how far I make it in this one
- A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare-you gotta love Shakespeare
If you are interested in joining the fun, Carl V. has given some helpful definitions and reading suggestions here. Now, I'm off to find out what happens next to the last unicorn.

So glad you decided to join in. Great list of books. I look forward to your thoughts on them as you get through them.
Lovely list. Stardust and The Last Unicorn are particular favourites of mine, I'll be interested to see how you get on with them.
I've just finished reading The Last Unicorn for this challenge and posted my review. I loved it!
Hope you enjoy Stardust. It's one of my favorites.
Hi, I read the Odyssey a few years ago and absolutely loved it, it's always great to see someone else reading the old classics :)
Carl V. and Quixotic-I look forward to reading them. The Last Unicorn has been good so far and I picked up Stardust from the library yesterday.
Chris-I checked out your review. I am anxious to see finish the book.
Naridu-I love the classics. I'll be working through the Odyssey when I'm finished with the Iliad.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments. It keeps me motivated to know someone is watching.
I really want to read the whole Grimm's myself. Best of luck to you! Stardust is a great book. :)
Those are all wonderful choices!
My son and I turn again and again to the Grimm's Fairy Tales. He's sixteen, and won't admit to liking them in public, but neither will he let our four inch thick volume out of his room. Last night I heard of "The True Story of Hansel and Gretel" which is new to me. I guess it's supposed to correspond to Germany in WWII. But, your list looks fascinating! I liked the review of the unicorn I read at the top, and I wonder if my third graders would enjoy it as well. They adore fantasy.
